My new desk / makeup storage!

So yesterday I took a trip to Ikea with my boyfriend (I haven't been there since I was about 7, and it's even more amazing than I remember!) I was originally planning to buy the Malm desk which everyone and their mum seems to own so that I could organise all my makeup nicely and see everything I have, especially as I'm planning on expanding my collection - some crappy old wooden drawers weren't cutting it anymore. In person, I was really disappointed by the Malm, it was a lot smaller than I expected and really didn't look worth nearly £100. In the end, I found this desk, the 'Micke'. I absolutely love it. It's perfect for storing makeup/products and was only £65, quite cheap in comparison to the Malm. I also bought five little sectioned trays whilst I was there for 80p each (bargain!) and a white metal cutout pot for storing all my brushes in. I keep opening the drawers to look at my makeup laid out neatly, it all looks so pretty and I'm honestly so happy with this desk, it was worth every penny. It looks really sleek and simplistic, plus I was happy to find that the drawers pull out really easily and slide back in smoothly. All the room underneath means it's the perfect station to do makeup at and doubles up as a nifty shoe storage (I like to be able to see my shoes otherwise they collect dust in my cupboard and I forget to wear them!)

I got this little gem off ebay (again!) from this seller. If you're anything like me and have far too many lipsticks, then this is an ideal storage solutions. It reminds me slightly of the muji drawers which are also acrylic, meaning you can see everything you have (nothing worse than makeup hidden away in drawers right?) It was only around £3 (bargain!) and fits 24 lipsticks. I really like the way it looks on my dressing table and it means I can just easily reach for whatever colour I want. Definitely going to get my hands on some more as they're cheap as chips!

over the past year or so, my jewellery collection has got a lot a little out of hand.I went through phases of obsessively buying chunky rings and earrings and really had nowhere decent to store them all. I have recently downsized (a tiny bit) and managed to find a nifty way to store all my favourite jewellery (yes there's more less loved stuff tucked away in drawers!) This glass cake stand was found for a massively reduced price in my local garden centre of all places, and so my mum picked up a few and I thought it would be the perfect jewellery storage solution. As you can see my jewellery is a bit of a mish-mash and it looks far more messy than I'd like (does anyone else have a problem with clashing colours?!) but for now it works well and keeps it all in one place where I can find it. The majority of the pieces pictures are either from topshop, newlook, primark, H&M or are thrifted/charity shop finds. There's really no common design to the jewellery I buy - I just always know when I like something and get a bit shop happy, oops. I've seen loads of similar cake stands in charity shops before - I really like the look of the kind of old fashion glass.
