Today I'm writing a quick review - the reason it's 'quick' is because I'm sure most of you have already heard a thousand and one things about this product, it's massively popular within the beauty world right now! None the less, I thought I would give my two cents.

Mary Lou really is the perfect highlight shade - it's a beautiful champagne tone that's not too pink and not completely yellow either (great for makeup artists as it's pretty much a universal highlighter!) It's finely milled so goes on so smoothly and blends out beautifully unlike chunkier highlighters (I'm thinking the MUA ones and the Urban Decay naked highlighter) which can just look a bit too much.

Do I even need to mention the packaging? It's the prettiest thing ever and makes me want to buy everything else from The Balm just so I can look at it! My favourite brush to apply it with is either a larger fluffy brush for a more diffused natural look or the Real Techniques setting brush, which allows more control and precision. The price is a little steep, but still considerably lower than the MAC msf's - plus it looks as if it will last forever. So, overall, I wouldn't definitely recommend this to anyone who prefers a powder highlighter and likes to go a little bit bolder with their glow! I couldn't live without it now.

So once again, I've been very MIA from my blog recently! I miss writing and sharing my thoughts with you guys, but I'm also really busy with work and college. Today I have a little bit of time to write something up, and so thought I'd share a recent photoshoot I worked on! I was lucky enough to be the makeup artist for an amazing photographer who lives in my local area (Jess Withey) along with the stunning model Iris Fitzgerald. I had an amazing time (even though it was absolutely freezing - beaches in the middle of winter are not great!) but we persevered anyway and got these amazing shots to show for it. It was my first location photoshoot and was really exciting for me as it gave me an insight into what I would really love to do with my career. I love doing the 'pretty everyday' makeup, but this is where my heart lies - I just love editorial style makeup.

I was so grateful to be able to work with this talented duo and it all came together beautifully. Being my first location-shoot, it's something I will never forget. The idea behind the shoot was kind of a glamorous metallic winter shoot; the makeup mimicked this massively as I focused on using metallic shades - we used Mehron Metallic Powder mixing medium to create that gold leaf effect and later on went for a darker smokey eye and dark lips. Makeup brands I used most frequently here were MAC, Urban Decay, Illamasqua and Sleek Cosmetics. Don't forget to check out my makeup page (Makeup by Fern Wortmann) for more looks!

Let me know what you think guys, I'd love to have your feedback!

I was recently sent these amazing hair extensions from the lovely people over at Lush Hair Extensions. First off, I think it's worth mentioning how great their customer service is - they offer a free shade match service where you can chat back and fourth with the company to pick the right colour for you. You send them photos of your hair in natural daylight and they'll match you free of charge (I was matched to shade #60 Lightest Blonde, pictured above) and I really love the match as this particular set accounts for all the different tones of blonde I have in my hair - it can be really hard to match up a blonde right, especially when you have a mix of lighter/darker or warmer/cooler tones. I was also sent the amazing hot pink extensions, designed by Holly Hagan, have a look at this post to see them in action!

As soon as I opened these extensions I noticed how lovely and soft they were. They also have a nice weight to them and feel very natural and not over processed or dry in the slightest. They are 100% remy human hair with a lovely texture and feel, making them easy to style, wash and experiment with. I received the 150 gram 8 weft set, which contains:

1x8'' wide weft (4 clips attached)

2x6'' wide weft (3 clips attached)

2x4'' wide weft (2 clips attached)

1x3'' wide weft (2 clips attached)

2x2'' wide weft (1 clip attached)

For me this set's perfect as my hair is fairly thick, so they added a nice amount of volume and blended well with my natural hair. If you have thinner/finer hair you may want to consider going for a lighter set. It takes some getting used to to clip them in properly, I found it was a case of altering the number of wefts you used depending on what kind of look you were going for - some people like to use the whole pack whereas other may use a few wefts just to add some volume and length; it's all about playing around with them until you get the best result for you! I love the way these feel, just like natural hair and very comfortable to wear throughout the day. I found these to hold a curl better than my own hair which is always a bonus!

I noticed a little bit of shredding from these extensions, but that is generally to be expected with any sets you buy - just as your natural hair comes out/shreds, these will a little too. Taking good care of them is really important - Lush recommends not washing them too often (this depends on how much you style/process them and how many hair styling products you use on them) over washing can cause them to wear out sooner than they should!

So overall, I'm very happy with these - they're really affordable and definitely worth the money considering how well they can shade match you. It's nice to talk to real people rather than leaving it to chance; so many company's wont offer that kind of service anymore. I've read up on other reviews and a lot of people with all different kinds of hair types loves these (be it ombre, super short, curly - the list goes on) so it's definitely a company to check out if you're in the market for longer and thicker looking hair!

I know everyone has said it, but I literally cannot believe how quickly this year is flying by! The only positive to that is that Christmas is nearly here - I'm obsessed with Christmas and have been going on for about 3 months already (sorry family). Anyway, here are my October favourites, I could have included more as I've been loving so much stuff recently but I didn't want this post to last a million years!

Firstly, I've fallen in love with the Sleek Contour Kit in Light, which I featured in a haul at the end of summer. It's literally the perfect contour shade for me, whether I'm pale or tanned. A little goes a long way with this so it's lasting me forever and it's definitely top of my list to repurchase when I run out! I also love the highlighter, it's a nice champagne shade and has a really pretty colour pay off without being too overpowering. I love to team this with my Real Techniques Contour Brush which is the best brush ever for contouring, plus it's super soft - I wouldn't be without these two now!

Another thing I've been loving is the Sukin Sensitive Facial Moisturiser. I've discovered recently that I do actually have sensitive skin after years of wondering. Since working at bareMinerals I've really appreciated the benefits of natural skincare, and so when I found this discounted I thought I'd try it out! It leaves my skin really smooth and soft and never breaks me out, plus it's packed with loads of lovely essential oils.

I'm late on the band wagon with this one, but I absolutely adore MAC's Soft & Gentle, it's the prettiest highlighter ever - a warm champagne with just the right amount of shimmer. It's beautiful applied lightly for a soft glow or packed onto the cheekbones for a dramatic highlight. I'm so happy I have it in my life now - only thing I'm not a fan of is the packaging, I think the old style looked a lot more expensive, whereas the new style just looks a bit cheap.

For eyes, I've been loving the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Creamy Beige. I actually picked this up fairly recently but have been using it ever since. I adore the formulation and pigmentation of all of the colour tattoos (review coming soon!) and this one did not disappoint; it's an affordable dupe for MAC's quite natural or groundwork paintpots, giving a nice subtle smokey warm brown effect on the eyes. The staying power is fantastic too.

Lastly, two nude products I can't get enough of - I'm definitely someone who gravitates towards nudes wherever possible. I picked up this Sally Hansen Nail Polish in Cafe Au Lait recently as I already had 'I pink I can' and loved the formulation - this is the perfect everyday nude, plus I love that it goes with any colour scheme - life's too short to worry about matching your outfit to your nail polish! For everyday I've also been loving my Maybelline Colour Sensational Lipstick in Tantalising Taupe, it's a really pretty creamy nude that doesn't make you look dead. It's a good dupe for MAC's blankety (which I own) but in my opinion is a little bit more wearable as it has a touch more pink to it.

Let me know what you've been loving

This Saturday at work we had a #thinkpink day to raise money for breast cancer awareness! Not being a lover (or owner!) of pink clothes, it was the perfect excuse to wear my amazing new extensions from Lush Hair Extensions. These extensions are 100% human hair, making them super soft - everyone at work thought I had actually dyed my own hair. They're designed by Holly Hagan of Geordie Shore in collaboration with LushHairExtensions.co.uk, there are some really fun colours in the collection.. I've been eyeing up the blue ones too (cough, kylie jenner). I have the blonde ones of these (#61 Lightest blonde, post coming soon!) which are amazing for everyday but as I love to experiment with colours, these are perfect for me! I've had pink hair in the past, but the upkeep is too hard so this is temporary and kind of fool proof. I loved the effect of just putting them into a simply messy plait - especially the way the blonde kind of swirls into the pink! Can't wait to see the effect with a fishtail plait. I just used 3 wefts (one 4 clip, two 3 clip) around the bottom to add volume and length to that area - the ends of my hair look thinner than the rest and these were perfect to actually give me a decent amount of hair to work with. I think these will look amazing in a high curly ponytail too - can't wait to experiment!

Last week I made a new order from bareMinerals - despite working for them and and not wanting to sound 'cliche', they are genuinely one of my favourite brands and my first port of call at the moment for new makeup bits. The range of products and colours/finishes available is what I really love - there's always something to suit everyone.
After using these a lot on customers, I was really impressed by the pigmentation and buildable finish of them - you can decide whether you wear it sheer or concentrated for a pop of colour. This colour is beautiful, kind of a universal soft pink

Ready Luminizer in 'the love affair' & 'the shining moment' : I cannot recommend this highlighter enough; I've never found something I like more for achieving a soft luminous glow. Because it has the two colours, you can pick between a pinky highlight or a more gold toned one - when the two colours are mixed it creates a really complimentary glow to the skin. Unlike other highlighters, it's not chunky or too glittery but instead fine milled, adding the perfect sheen to the skin - if you've not tried this I would really recommend it

Original Loose SPF 15 Foundation in 'golden medium' : this stuff has seriously changed my makeup routine and the way I think about my skin. I have a fair few shades now, ranging from lighter to more tanned golden tones (I'm a fake tan addict!) and this one if perfect if you prefer a more golden tone to you skin. This foundation is super quick and easy to apply and can be worn alone or on top of liquid foundation - it literally transforms your skin and gives you a glowing airbrushed look, plus it won't glog your pores or irritate your skin with unnecessary nasty ingredients

5-in-1 BB Eyeshadow Cream in 'soft shell' : these eyeshadow creams are seriously played-down within the line of bareMinerals products. I absolutely love them, they transform a shadow look and make chalky shadows look creamy whilst intensifying pigments. They are ideal under a smokey eye look and look lovely worn alone for a more toned-down look. Soft shell is a slightly yellowy neutral colour, I especially love to use it under my brows to sculpt and define them a bit more

Pretty Amazing Lipcolour in 'charisma' : the lipcolours are a fusion between a gloss and lipstick, giving an intense colour with a glossy buttery finish. I absolutely love these and a little goes a long way. I opted for a pinky tone as I usually always go for nudes and I really like it, it's not too warm or too blue!
I've sadly been a little MIA from my blog for the past few weeks - I've really missed blogging and I have so many product reviews and new posts to share with you guys! I wanted to let you know where I've been - since the beginning of September, I've been doing a level 3 diploma in makeup artistry! This is so exciting for me as makeup has always been a hobby and interest for me, but now I feel like I'm actually putting it to use and learning some amazing new things. For anyone thinking of doing this type of course, I would totally recommend it. It's an amazing opportunity to practise and perfect your makeup skills without the worry of getting it wrong.. it's all about experimentation. The pictures above are some little insights of what I've been up to so far! I can't wait till I actually have the qualification under my belt and can start really using it. Also, I've been busy working at bareMinerals, which has been pretty busy lately, especially with the launch of BareSkin (review HERE) and the run up to christmas - I'm so excited to work in the cosmetics industry at Christmas : my two favourite things! So yeah, expect more to come from me!

shades l-r : eclipse / luna / shooting star / stellar

I have recently fallen head over heels with these lip lacquers by Rimmel. I'd been wanting to try them out for ages but held it off as I'm not a massive fan of Rimmel products in general - but these really surpassed all my expectations. I'd heard great things and decided to bite the bullet and get a couple of shades (I've since gone back and bought the rest of the shades as I love them that much!)

The texture of these is amazing, they're extremely buttery and silky yet don't appear sheer on the lips; infact the colour pay off is amazing and they're incredibly pigmented. For something that's marketted as a 'fusion' between a gloss and a lipstick "but better" you really do get all that. The colour range is gorgeous and thankfully Rimmel made every shade completely unique, so we're not just dealing with a bland palette of samey nudes. When I've worn these myself, the staying power is amazing, they stay on all day and even hold up fairly well through eating and drinking - plus the shine they provide is lovely. Usually, I would only expect good longevity from a matte formulation but these have really changed my view on that.

These are ideal for, if like me, you are looking to build up a kit - these are so versatile, covering all the shades you could want and every finish, as they're neither a gloss nor a lipstick as mentioned previously. I imagine they would be ideal for bridal or wedding makeup - I can't wait to try them out for a wedding I'm doing early next year. The last thing I love is the applicator, which allows the product to glide on really smoothly, outlining and filling in your lips perfectly everytime... oh and the packaging is so pretty. (is there anything I don't like about these?!)

shade : Bare Buff 10

With this foundation set to release in just a few days in the UK, I thought I'd write a little post sharing a few of my thoughts on it. Working for the company myself, I know that there's a massive amount of hype around this as it's Bare Minerals first ever 'liquid' foundation - but with that has also come a lot of scepticism about how good it is for your skin. It's hard to believe, but this stuff really is great for your skin, unlike many other typical liquid foundations on the market.

The foundation comes in 20 shades, varying from light to dark and taking into account different undertones like pink, neutral and golden. As I always prefer a more golden tone to my skin (and often tan a few shades darker than my natural skintone) I went for Bare Buff which has a lovely rich golden colour to it. Even though it's just a little too dark for me, I still love this colour. Ok, so in terms of ingredients, this foundation boasts only having 18 - compared to Estee Lauder Double Wear which has around 45 - and is the lowest ingredient foundation on the market. Just like the Original Mineral Foundation, this one is 100% natural without any nasties like fragrance, parabens, oil or silicone. What I love is that it's good for everyone's skin; if you suffer from blemishes and acne is still allows the skin to breathe and doesn't clog, and if you have aging skin the super brightening serum really peps up the complexion and deminishes discolouration.

So in terms of my experience with it, I really like this foundation. I like that it doesn't feel like it's clogging my pores; it has a silk like texture which doesn't feel drying or cakey on my skin (in that respect, it reminds me of my trusty L'oreal True Match). It really brightens your skin and can be worn super natural or layered for a more heavy coverage. Day to day, I like to go for a medium-full coverage, and so often layer my Original Loose Mineral foundation over the top to really give a flawless fuller coverage finish (both of them work together like a dream). You can vary the coverage you get depending on how many drops you use (1-2 giving a light coverage + 5-6 giving you the max) Some things I'm not so keen on with this foundation are that it's not got an amazing staying power, I often find it wearing away from around my nose and mouth a little after a few hours, but this can be combatted with the use of a good primer and setting powder. It's really important that you remember to shake the bottle well before applying, or you'll find (as I did with a customer!) that it just comes out as an oil (that's a good sign though! Due to the fact there is no chemical emulsifier in there which can irritate the skin)

For anyone who wants a fresher, more glowy and flawless look to their skin, this is perfect. If you're into the dewy look you will love this and the way it blends out so seamlessly. If you love a heavy coverage, this may not be the foundation for you, but like me, you might love it with the Original Loose over the top.

Ikea Micke Desk

So yesterday I took a trip to Ikea with my boyfriend (I haven't been there since I was about 7, and it's even more amazing than I remember!) I was originally planning to buy the Malm desk which everyone and their mum seems to own so that I could organise all my makeup nicely and see everything I have, especially as I'm planning on expanding my collection - some crappy old wooden drawers weren't cutting it anymore. In person, I was really disappointed by the Malm, it was a lot smaller than I expected and really didn't look worth nearly £100. In the end, I found this desk, the 'Micke'. I absolutely love it. It's perfect for storing makeup/products and was only £65, quite cheap in comparison to the Malm. I also bought five little sectioned trays whilst I was there for 80p each (bargain!) and a white metal cutout pot for storing all my brushes in. I keep opening the drawers to look at my makeup laid out neatly, it all looks so pretty and I'm honestly so happy with this desk, it was worth every penny. It looks really sleek and simplistic, plus I was happy to find that the drawers pull out really easily and slide back in smoothly. All the room underneath means it's the perfect station to do makeup at and doubles up as a nifty shoe storage (I like to be able to see my shoes otherwise they collect dust in my cupboard and I forget to wear them!)

MUA Undressed Palette / Benefit Perk Up Artist / Sleek Contour Kit / L'oreal True Match / Nails Inc Polishes

My recent trip to Brighton actually coincided with payday, so of course I had to spend a few pennies. I'd been dying to get my hands on the sleek contour kit for ages now, I've always heard such good stuff about it but sadly I don't have a sleek in my local superdrug and everytime I looked for it in another city, they were always all out - so when I saw it I snapped one up as well as the MUA Undressed palette - I'm a massive fan of all the MUA palette's, the pigmentation is amazing and this one is another favourite now (as predicted!)

Whilst I was there I also stocked up on my trusty L'oreal True Match in W4 Golden Natural (reviewed here), I absolutely love this foundation and bought two bottles as it was 2 for £15! There was also a really good TK Maxx in Brighton - the one where I live is never great in the makeup department. I saw this Benefit concealer palette and got it as I was curious about how well it would cover - so far I'm not a massive fan of this, but I'm going to give it another crack and see how I get on with it. Last but not least, the selection of Nails Inc polishes there was so good (and they were all £3.99 which is quite a bargain) so I decided to get these two shades, a nice wearable nude and a corally neon orange - both are so nice when applied and last for ages without chipping.
I recently bought MAC Darkside after wanting to add another one to my (very small) collection. I've been wanting to try one of MAC's nude or wearable pinks for ages now, but after much umming and arring, decided upon Darkside - a gorgeous rich plum shade, the perfect balance between a dark purple and red. Darkside is an 'amplified creme' meaning it's less drying than the matte formulation yet not quite as buttery and glossy as the cremesheen range (I sometimes find that finish a little too glossy for myself) So, it's a good compromise between a matte and a gloss finish - perfect if you ever suffer from chapped lips!

The pigmentation of the lipstick does not dissapoint! Like most MAC lipsticks, it's stays put for ages, slightly staining the lips even after it's been removed. The longevity is very impressive, it even stays put through eating/drinking/all day wear with minimal transfer/ The finish it gorgeous, not too matte and dull but a really nice wearable sheen.I'm in love with this formulation and really want to try out more of the amplified cremes in the future as I expand my makeup kit. I would love it if you guys could recommend which colour I should check out next!
I recently went on a week away to Brighton with my boyfriend, followed by a 3 day festival near where I live to top it off - it's safe to say I'm all camped out and a real bed feels like the best thing in the world right now! Brighton is honestly such a lovely place.. I fell in love a little. It's like the ideal mix between a seaside town and a quirky city with both well-known and unique shops - I can't wait to go back! If you get the chance to go check out The Lanes, so many cute shops down there! Luckily the weather was beautiful so I was able to wear (and buy!) some nice summery clothes. I've been wanting a kimono for ages now so finally bit the bullet and bought this lovely floral one from Newlook. Also, I've now discovered Bershka (don't know how I missed this shop before?!) and picked up this lovely skirt as I fell in love with the daisy print. On a nice sunshiney evening it was the perfect photo op for an outfit post, so here it is! Definitely want to be doing more of these on my blog - it seems necessary as well as I can't stop buying clothes! (my bank account isn't loving me at the moment!)

I thought I'd write a little post on my recent nail polish storage solution - it's far from revolutionary but I guess it fits into the 'DIY' category. I picked up this little cutlery drawer thing from a carboot a few months ago, I think it was about 50p so being the hoarder I am I just bought it! I was happy to find that it actually stores my nail polishes perfectly - every brand has managed to slot in there nicely and as you can see from the pictures, there's still room for loads more polishes. I still need to get round to painting it white but I don't think it looks too obvious even with the original wood. I've also stored palettes in it in the past, and they slot in perfectly - for me this is a far neater solution than how I used to store them (all stuffed in a drawer) plus it makes me use them all more frequently as I can see all the colours I own - all I need now are a few more colours to fill it!
After a combination of way to much bleaching/dying, way too much heat and styling and nowhere near enough care, my hair has really suffered. I have been dying my hair for god knows how long now (probably since I was about 13) and it's really left it lacking in any kind of health. Let me take you back to 2012/2013; my hair was past my bust and surprisingly long considering I used dyes containing peroxide in them. Unfortunately, I thought my hair was indestructible, I didn't care that it was getting more and more damaged as long as it stayed a good length. My hair finally gave in and started to snap off...fall out, it was a bit of a nightmare. Everytime I went to brush my hair it would break off - it was brittle, damaged and unmanageable. I ignored it most of the time, continuing to use heat on it, constantly toning it to get a 'grey' effect (toners can be massively drying!) and not really caring for it correctly. Only recently have I really noticed how much it's changed - it's around 2 or more inches shorter than it was before, and I hardly ever trim it.. so most of that's simply damage and neglect *slaps wrists*

I decided recently that I really want to have nice long hair, and so I'm attempting to embark on a mission to get it healthy again! Firstly, I decided to stop dying it so much - I've been letting my roots grow out further and going longer between dying (this can be hard when you're a natural brunette but also an important step). Already this seems to have helped a bit. Secondly, I'm trying to not use so much heat on it - I've ditched the straighteners and try to let it air dry whenever possible - I only occasionally curl the very ends which, for me, works well as they stay in for a good 2 days or more. Thirdly, I've been washing it less; Girlz Only Dry Shampoo has been my best friend as it eliminates oil and gives the hair a bit of a boost. When I do wash it I always opt for a shampoo aimed specifically at damaged hair with split ends; I've been loving the Garnier Silky Smoother Shampoo as well as all of the Pantene range. I've been using lots of oils on it, both before and after washing. I love to use a 100% Pure Coconut Oil all over my hair about 2 hours before washing it (I do this about twice a week) and it really makes it more manageable and soft. Also, I've been putting an oil through it afterwards - I'm loving the Bumble and Bumble Hairdressers Oil for this as it's lightweight yet moisturising. And lastly, my little saviour, my Pink Tangle Teezer - quite a god send for those of us who get notty hair after washing it as it doesn't pull or tug at the hair. So here's to hoping I can salvage my hair!

Here it is - my everyday makeup! Well, more of a 'summer' everyday makeup as I always tend to go heavier in the winter (does everyone do this?!) To break it down, my everyday makeup basically consists of a med-full coverage foundation (my all-time love is the L'oreal True Match foundation reviewed here!) a fair bit of bronzer, winged liner, big lashes and a nudey lip (I always either go for a nude or a 'browney' toned lip liner for everyday). And of course I couldn't go without filling in my eyebrows as *sadly* I was not blessed with thick brows. Anyway, I'm really happy with this and have been wearing it practically everyday - which is quite rare for me as I never tend to settle on just one look. For most people, a set of lashes everyday would be waaaay to much, but most of the time it's what feels comfortable for me - if I don't wear them I tend to spend absolutely ages coating on mascara trying to make them look as long as possible - for me it actually saves time!

St.Tropez Skin Illuminator 'Gold' : I love love love this stuff, it's perfect for bringing out a tan and making it pop. It's a gold tone which I love as I tend to steer away from anything with a pink tone to it; I love to mix this with my foundation to add a little bit more glow to my base - or it can be used on the legs and arms to get a gorgeous glow

Elizabeth Arden Pure Finish Tinted Moisturiser 'light 02' : I picked this up not so long ago from tk maxx. I felt like I really needed to get something that was lighter coverage - I always tend to go for a medium to full coverage but it's just not practical when it's hot and humid, so I opted for this! I was actually really surprised by this, it's a great alternative to foundation and gives more coverage than expected, plus it feels lightweight and moisturising on the skin - only con is this 'light' colour is not very light at all, not a problem for me as I'm a fake tan junkie, but something to note!

Benefit They're Real Mascara : Another tk maxx buy - they have so much good discounted makeup in there! At first it felt a bit wet and clumpy but after a week or two it applies so nicely, literally making my eyelashes look fake. It's a smudgeproof lengthening formula and one coat looks amazing alone - just be careful of layering it too much as it does clump!

Revlon Quad 'Brazen' : I love this quad for summer as I tend to always wear less eyeshadow in these months - I always opt for smokier eyes in the winter on the whole. It has a nice mixture of bronze, brown and gold and can be applied really subtley for an everyday look. Plus the pigmentation is really good.

Mac Lipstick 'Shy Girl' : I've had this for ages but forever love it - it's the perfect summer nude (especially with a tan) plus it's so moisturising - great for, if like me, you get dry lips in the summer due to lack of moisture. It's nice compromise between a coral and nude and goes with basically any makeup look.

Soap & Glory Glow All Out Highlighter : Never thought I would say this, but I actually like this more than my MUA undress your skin highlighter simply because it's more finely milled, a little bit more natural and has a bit more of a peachy tone as appose to a bluey/pink one. It's adds such a soft highlight, I absolutely love it for a summer glow.

Quite a collective mix of things here - I've been buying bits here and there recently, thanks to a payday at the end of June (money goes so quickly!!) I've been trying to buy some new things and steer away from the usual stuff I would automatically buy - I'm trying to incorporate new prints and shapes into my wardrobe to dilute the (slightly boring) never ending rail of black and white! I've rekindled a love for online shopping; there's nothing nicer than receiving a little gift to yourself in the post - am I right? I am absolutely in love with the shoes, although not been brave enough to wear them yet, not too sure what to wear them with if I'm honest! I'm going on holiday and to a festival at the end of the month so some wardrobe revamp was needed! But yeah hopefully I can do more fashion based posts, maybe even more ootd's? The possibilities are endless!

MUA Ever After matte palette : You may have seen me already review this palette here. It's so lovely and surprisingly un-chalky (is that even a word?!) Plus at £4 you really can't go wrong with an all-matte palette

Benefit Porefessional : Technically a cheat buy as I didn't buy this - it was a freebie was ELLE last month. It's a really lovely primer though and does a great job of minimising my pores. I'm considering buying the full size when I next get paid

Bare Minerals 'Faux Tan' bronzer : This is such a lovely bronzer for adding a luminescent glow to the cheeks or all over the face. I actually got a job with bare minerals just the other day (SO excited!) and honestly this product is great as it blends out seamlessly without leaving a muddy dull contour as many bronzers do

Benefit Hello Flawless Powder 'Nutmeg' : Obviously, I won't be using this as a setting powder as it's around 5 shades too dark for me! But I actually picked this up with the intention of using it as a bronzing powder/contour powder - and as it was £10 in TKmaxx I couldn't really pass up the offer! It's lovely and smooth and blends nicely into the skin.. plus the staying power is great as it's intended to keep your makeup in place!

Collection Lasting Perfection Foundation 'Cool Beige' : This is one of my favourite foundations, but when I went to pick up a new bottle I was disappointed to see that Collection had altered all the shades - I went for one that looked okay. Sadly, Cool Beige looked pretty different under the shop lights and is just a little too ashy, but I like to mix it with a warmer toned foundation and I still get the full coverage of this product!

Shades : Unwrap, Butter, Bare, Taffeta, Fade, Penny, Chino, Truffle, Fog, Smoke

I wanted this palette (and all the others MUA has to offer!) ever since I fell in love with the Undress Me Too palette, which is one I reach for everyday (review here). I was curious to see how this would match up in comparison to the shimmer finish of the other shadows - I didn't quite believe that a £4 palette could provide good quality matte shadows. I was wrong! This palette is lovely and offers the ability to create a variety of eye makeup looks from neutral to smokey and beyond.

The shadows themselves are fairly creamy and not chalky as I had worried they would be - the only downside for me is they're not as pigmented as other MUA palettes, but they are still really nice. Another slight issue I have with this palette is that shades 2 and 3 (Bare and Taffeta) are nearly the same and when applied to the eyelid look identical, so in that way I feel a little cheated, but for £4 it's not much of a complaint. I absolutely love the colour 'fade' as a natural crease definer and often use 'unwrap' as a subtle highlight on the brow bone. Overall I would really recommend this palette for something a little different - it's very hard to find all matte palettes but MUA have come up trumps with this one; it's especially good if, like me, you're trying to build up a kit containing a variety of products and finishes.

MUA Undress Me Too Palette : I've actually reviewed this palette more in depth here so go check that out if you're interested! It's a palette that I reach for every single day without fail - the combination of colours means you can create literally any kind of eye look from subtle to smokey and the pigmentation is amazing, so it's a winner for me.

The Body Shop Shea Lip Butter : I really love this lip butter, not only does it smell amazing but it does a great job of moisturising dry or chapped lips - perfect to chuck in my makeup bag, I like to apply it before doing my makeup

17 Shine Control Pressed Powder : I picked this up on a whim after my Rimmel Stay Matte had run out and it's surprisingly good! It does a great job of mattifying my makeup and keeping it in place but also gives a flawless lightweight coverage without looking cakey or clinging to dryness - definitely a hidden gem.

Revlon Nail Polish 'Sweet Tart' : Again, this was another product I picked up on a whim when lusting after pretty pink nails - this shade is perfect for pink lovers, it's bright but not a hot pink, there is a tiny bit of coral in there making it perfect for summer (plus it lasts for ages, no chipping for days which really impressed me!)

MUA Powder Blush 'Bon Bon' : I already knew the MUA blushes were amazing for pigmentation but then I found this shade - I've never had a more perfect blush. It's the right balance between coral, soft pink and plum and gives a lovely glowy blush to the cheeks, and for £1 it's really worth trying out

Ebay Stipple Fibre Powder Brush : I've reviewed these ebay brushes more in depth here . These have been hailed super cheap dupes for the Real Techniques brushes, and they do come very very close. This brush in particular is lovely as it's slightly angled meaning it's easy to get around the nose area and hairline. I love using it to apply foundation as it's a very lightweight brush - it blends out foundation seamlessly without picking up too much product at any time, giving an airbrushed effect

Yardley English Rose Eau De Toilette : I received this as a gift for Christmas, but it's become one of my favourite summer scents. Some rose perfumes smell a little sickly or fake but this smells exactly like roses, as if you've just walked into a garden full of them - it also has a slight warmth to it making it smell divine

After having disliked jelly shoes when they first popped back into fashion (they reminded me a little too much of my childhood!) I now love them with a passion and feel the need to buy a pair. I'm not sure if I'd be brave enough to wear them out but gosh they're so pretty to look at. I also found an amazing website called Hiddenfashion.com (where the playsuit's from) and after lusting after it, actually ordered the playsuit - I adore it. I'm loving all things monochrome and peach/pink at the moment and am also lusting after so many sleek products as my local Superdrug doesn't stock Sleek - the contour kit is definitely on my to buy list!

Collection Eyebrow Kit : I picked this up after eyeing it up for ages and wanting to try something different from my trusty eyebrow pencil. I was pretty disappointed with this, I don't think the shade for 'blonde' hair is dark enough, the medium brown is too red and the third shadow is practically black so sadly I can't use it - back to my eyebrow pencil! Popped it into my makeup kit though as it has a good brush and setting gel and I can use it on other people

Argania Light Moroccan Hair Oil : received this as a gift at my birthday and absolutely loved it; it leaves my hair super soft and healthy feeling - this ones for 'light' coloured hair, so perfect if your hair's bleached like mine!

NYC Lashes : was really disappointed with these, the lash band is stiff and they're hard to put on - plus once they're on they look spidery and unnatural! It's a shame but they were only £1.99 so I'm not breaking the bank there.

2True 3in1 Concealer : absolutely love this concealer, I use it under my eyes and in a triangle shape across my cheekbones to add light - a la Kim K Kontouring. It's really good for the price (£1.99) and I'm looking to get the lighter shade too for an even more highlighted effect

Nail Polishes : l-r : Revlon Sweet Tart, Nail Inc Beach, Topshop Lead & Solar, Sinful Colours Be Happy & Orange Cream, Barry M Black Nail Paint : Went a bit mad on the nail polish buying - I recently got a little rack thing to store them all in (I'm going to paint it white so it looks all pretty!) But I thought it would be nice to invest in some colours I've been eyeing up for a while now, plus it will make me experiment more with colour. Now I've got them all out on my dressing table I want them to look pretty!

So that's everything I've bought recently; a bit random but I felt like writing a post on this lovely sunny afternoon!

Boots; £23.99 from Ebay

After eyeing up the Topshop Allsorts Chelsea Boots for ages and really wanting them or something similar, I was determined to find a dupe for a lot less money - I'd read bad reviews on the actual Topshop chelsea boots and couldn't think of spending £45 on them at the moment. Whilst I was in Leicester I came across a random shoe shop, which had really similar boots for £25 and I fell in love with them - I would have bought them then and there except they only had a size 5, which came up too big on me (I'm usually a 5 but ended up buying a 4 in these as they were a slightly bigger fit). I am so in love with them, they're just what I've been looking for! In fact, I find myself actually liking them more than the Topshop boots, as they don't look as 'long' something I get paranoid about with shoes! They're really comfy and very afforable, so definitely check them out if you've been eyeing up the Topshop version too.

lipsticks mentioned; Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupté number 27/ / Rimmel Moisture Renew Soft Coral / MAC Rebel / MAC Shy Girl / MUA 'Shade 14' Bare

When it comes to lipsticks, I'm a bit of a hoarder, owning over 30 (which for me, is excessive). I tend to go through stages; I'm either obsessed with brights or will only go for nudes. At the moment I'm in a nudey stage and actually haven't worn a bright or dark lipsticks in a long time! Here are my 5 all time favourites, covering darks, brights and nudes. I tend to stear clear of reds these days - not too sure why, think my non-stop wearing it for 3 months on end may have put me off!

YSL Rouge Volupte no. 27 : this lipstick is so pretty and bright and nearly stains my lips completely. It's long wearing and gives an amazing vibrant sheen to the lips with a buttery texture. I'm dying to try out more of these; some of the nudes and pink shades are divine, they're just a little too pricey on a budget!

Rimmel Soft Coral : I love this muted coral shade, it's perfect for spring/summer and adds a hint of colour without being OTT. The only downside to this is it's slightly glittery texture which can be a little grainy on the lips; aside from that it's a lovely drugstore coral

MAC Rebel : I reviewed rebel here after receiving it as a gift from my sister at last christmas. It is my all-time favourite dark lipstick, I don't feel the need to buy any other shades like this now as rebel ticks all the boxes for me; it's a gorgeous deep pinky purple that has a demi matte finish and last so well on the lips

MAC Shy Girl : I also reviewed Shy Girl here. It's a beautiful peach toned nude. It's really creamy and adds a nice sheen to the lips (as it's a cremesheen finish). I love it with a tan and in the summer months, perfect peachy nude.

MUA Bare : This has been a massive discovery for me. It was only £1 and is the nicest nude I've ever come across - it has a muted peachy tone which is so flattering on every skintone and a buttery consistency that isn't drying. The only downside is that it doesn't last ages, but you can't complain for a mere poun - I'd recommend it to everyone.
